To:
Parade Participants. If you are not accompanying your unit, please
give this letter to the person who will be with the unit.
1.
REGISTRATION: is necessary when you arrive. We open at 9:30am,
and hope to have everyone in place by 11:30am. Register at the City/County
garage on Hwy 54. Two lines will be set up -- A thru L and M - Z.
Look for the signs and get into the proper line to register.
2.
MAPS: are included here. Come directly to the proper registration
desk, get your location, and registration tag, then go to your location
in the parade route.
3.
GETTING HERE: Roads into Algoma will be detoured by 10:30am.
If you hit the detour, come to Hwy 54 and tell the officer a parade
participant, and he will let you through to register.
4.
FOR ASSISTANCE: Parade workers are identified with white hats
labeled "SHANTY DAYS CREW" and orange highway safety vests.
5.
BUS PARKING: Available on Fremont Street at the Algoma Med Center.
From Hwy 54 take on Sunset, go to Fremont. See a crewman if you
have any problems.
6.
WALKING UNITS- NOTE: Only the leader need report to the registration
desk. All others report to your location on the Algoma Med Center
lawn facing Washington St. Enter the parade as your number comes
up.
7.
REST ROOMS: Available at the Algoma Med Center, and the United
Methodist Church on Parker Street, for both sexes. The City Garage
will have port-a-potties available this year.
8.
RULES: Check the back of this sheet for the rules governing
us. Safety is the top priority - even above fun!
9.
AWARDS: For all who registered by August 1, entries are judged
for appropriateness, creativity, originality, and unique interpretation
of our parade theme. Each unit should be represented at the Reviewing
Stand located at Legion Park at the END of the parade route. Winners
will be announced within one hour after the last unit passes by.
Awards should be picked up then. If you cannot be present then,
the list will be posted at the Chamber stand at Legion Park, and
you can pick it up there. After 5:00 P.M. Sunday they will be at
the Visitor Information Center. Awards will not be mailed out.
10.
Thanks for participating in the parade. Have fun, greet old
and new friends. Be sure your unit is clearly identified so the
15,000+ people on the route know who you represent. Kathy Naze,
