Benefits & Services of Membership in the

Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce

Mission

Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce will  foster & promote a prosperous

a environment  throughout the greater lakeshore area.

  •  Chamber Quick Stuff To Know newsletter:  “Quick Stuff” is published several times a year. Benefits of this newsletter include updates on offers to Chamber members from Chamber members; calendar of events; new-member announcements; and other topical happenings. And, as part of “Quick Stuff,” members may include a flyer or announcement inserted before mailing. This newsletter is sent to over 250 people and businesses. This service provides a great way to communicate your special events to all members and volunteers.**

  •  Weekly “Happenings” report e-mailed throughout the year. If you have an e-mail address and would like to know what is happening each week, you can expect to hear from us every Wednesday or Thursday. Not only will you be able to mark you calendars for some not-to-be-missed events, but you can share this sheet with customers and employees so they feel in touch with the area.

  •  Participation in the Chamber Gift Certificate Program with 100 percent reimbursement. In 2007 local businesses alone issued over $100,000 in gift certificates as part of bonus programs. Community residents and many other businesses also purchase certificates for gifts and thank you acknowledgments throughout the year. The certificate may be purchased for any amount and are welcomed by all members. Each member is reimbursed for the face amount of the certificates.

  • Free listing in Algoma Area guidebook. More that 25,000 of these books are published and distributed annually. Each member is listed in the Friendly Algoma. And, each regular full-time member may choose to advertise. These books are mailed when requested; shipped to other tourism centers in Wisconsin; brought to family and class reunions; picked up and displayed by local businesses/hotels/motels/restaurants; and always available at the Algoma Visitor Center.

  • Representation at sport & travel shows: Representatives from the Chamber travel to at least three shows each year. (We are attending four shows in 2008.) We bring along hundreds of the Friendly Algoma guidebooks and often have the opportunity to talk about the businesses and services offered through Algoma.

  •  Member referrals for products/services. Whether through phone inquiries, people dropping in, or word-of-mouth, Chamber staff will recommend your business when appropriate.

  •  Brochure/flyer/business card placement in Visitor Center. As a member of the Chamber, you are encouraged to keep the visitors center supplied with your brochures. The volunteers work hard to see that interested tourists receive any brochure/menu, etc. we have displayed. Since the visitors center is open seven-days-a-week during season and Mon.-Fri. during the colder months, this is an ideal way to have your information at the fingertips of visitors and new residents.

  • Opportunity to advertise through brochures, coupons, souvenirs, etc., in the Newcomer’s Packets for new residents. The Chamber has large packets crammed with information, coupons, special deals, and “souvenirs” advertising our members.

  • Networking opportunities at Chamber functions and events. Each year, the Chamber holds an annual banquet and an awards dinner honoring local businesses, industries, and educators.

  • Algoma Chamber Internet home page featuring all member businesses with free links to their home pages.

  • The Chamber offices are located in a great building “on the beach.” We offer many office services for the convenience of our members.**  If you have an administrative need that is not listed below, ask the Chamber, and perhaps we can help you.
