Reserving Materials from Home Computers
The Algoma Public Library now offers improved access to its automated library catalog. Home computer owners may place reserved via the Internet for materials owned by the libraries in the shared library automation network.
The process of placing hold from home is easy. The computer user needs an Internet connection with a web browser and Telnet connection.
1. Using the web browser go to this address: www.apl.org. That is the home page for the Appleton Public Library. A menu will appear below the picture of the library. Users may have to customize preferences to recognize the Telnet application.
2. Click ON-LINE CATALOG. Welcome screen appears.
3. Select Algoma Library.
4. Login: Algoma (Capital A, others letters lower case.)
5. Press Enter. The opening screen for the shared on-line catalog appears. Use the catalog as you would in the library.
6. Select the item you want to reserve.
7. At the COPY AVAILABILITY screen, place your reserve by typing the L in the menu section (PLACE HOLD).
8. At the prompt, type in your entire library card number.
9. Press Enter.10. Press L again.
10. Tap Enter to proceed or exit.
11. At the opening screen menu for the catalog, select (x) to go back to the Appleton home page.
