Shanty Days 2011 - Celebration of the Lake
Algoma Library Friends sponsors a huge book sale at the Algoma Public Library, Friday, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Join us on Friday at noon for the annual Mayor's Honoree Luncheon to honor Jerry Matuszek. Spend time at the Arts & Craft Show with more than 100 stands featuring talented artists from all over the United States. Discover the Street Market and find everything from farm-fresh produce to ethnic baking; casual clothing to collectibles and toys. Great buys! Participate in the 5K Walk/Run on Saturday morning. Watch these pages, and plan to drop by the "just for kids" area on the main grounds with entertainment, activities, rides and games for the family. Don't forget to grab your lawn chairs and go down to Arts & Craft's "On the Green" to enjoy special entertainment for kids and adults on both Saturday and Sunday. Make time to see Randy Peterson's show that entertains adults and kids on Saturday; and relax from noon until about 1 p.m. with great band music styled by Algoma's Community Band. Take some time out from the festivities to walk along the beach on the Crescent Beach Boardwalk; visit the many interesting shops, restaurants; bike the Ahnapee State Trail; or take a charter fishing trip. Relax, enjoy Algoma. But, be ready for the grand finale with a grand fireworks display at dusk on Sunday. |
