August 25 (Wed) – Music on the Farm at Heritage Farm with Musical Brass from 6-10 p.m. 388-0604. online

 

September 4 (Sat) — Kele Alpacas Annual Day on the Farm. Bring the whole family and spend the day learning about alpacas, what they can do and how they are used. Spinning and weaving demonstrations. All proceeds go to the Violence Intervention Project. This alpaca farm is located approximately 10 miles west of Kewaunee, two miles south of Hwy 29 on County Road AB, east on Pine Grove Road. Watch for signs. Always Labor Day weekend.

 

September 11 (Sat) — FFA Tractor Pull. This annual event is held on the pulling track at the Heritage Farm (5 miles south of Kewaunee). 388-0604 or online

 

September 18 & 19 (Sat & Sun) — Wet Whistle Wine Fest. Plan to visit Algoma for this annual wine festival. You’ll enjoy live music, heritage foods, fine arts, award-winning wines, and the “always-a-crowd-pleaser” grape stomp. For more information call the Main Street Center at 487-5498 or website

 

September 20-26 — Cupcakes for a Cause!.  View the information on the great "excuse" to eat cupcakes! 

 

September 25 & 26 (Sat & Sun) — Agricultural Heritage Days. This annual event is held at the Luxemburg Fairgrounds and features antique farm equipment, tractor pulls, horse pulls, demonstrations of old time farming and more. Watch food being prepared on antique wood-fired cook stoves. Large flea and craft area. 388-0604 online 

 

September 29 (Wed) – Music on the Farm at Heritage Farm with Bob Kuether Band 6-10 p.m. 388-0604 online 

 

October 9 (Sat) 5th Annual Blue Jay Run at St. Mary’s School Algoma.  5K walk at 9:30, 5K run at 9:45, 1 mile kids run to follow.  Awards ceremony follows the races.  Registration forms will be available online in August or at the school office.

 

October 2-3 (Sat) – Oktoberfest at Heritage Farm 388-0604 online 

 

October TBD (Sat & Sun) Algoma Halloween Walk Algoma’s annual Halloween Walk at Algoma High School. This is a great time for the whole family. Costumes welcome, refreshments, games, photo opportunities and much, much, more. There is an admission. Proceeds go to the Algoma School District to sponsored youth-related activities. November TBD (Fri-Sun) – Christkindlmarkt in Kewaunee. Experience a traditional centuries-old European Christmas Market at Hamachek Hall. Shopping, kids activities, music, food and more. For all the information call 388-4822 to confirm dates. Kewaunee Chamber

 

December 4 & 5 (Sat-Sun) — Christmas in the City in Algoma. Join visitors and residents as they celebrate the holiday season. Expect to see Santa; take a wagon ride; and listen (and even sing-along with) choirs singing your favorite Christmas carols. Spend the days shopping; have milk & cookies with Santa, and more. And, don't miss the Parade at 5:30 through downtown! Then on Sunday enjoy a Tour of Homes all decked out for the Holidays. March 6 — Bridal, Prom & Special Occasion Fair: 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Over thirty local vendors participate in this annual event at the Algoma Youth Club—right by Lake Michigan. 487-2041

Dealers from all over the U.S. come to Algoma to sell antique and collectible dolls, toys, bears, original artist dolls, original artist bears, reproductions, limited edition dolls and bears, antique bisque dolls, doll clothes, doll furniture, doll parts, patterns, stands, and many doll and bear-related items from the early 1900s to today’s collectible dolls and bears. July / Aug — 29th annual Kewaunee/Door Salmon Tournament — Thousands of dollars in cash and prizes will be on the line in the Midwest’s most popular Chinook salmon fishing contest. Cast or troll anywhere in Lake Michigan off of Kewaunee and Door counties, with weigh-in ports at Algoma, Kewaunee, Sturgeon Bay, Baileys Harbor and Washington Island. First place is worth $10,000 cash to the lucky angler who reels in the winning “king.” The payout typically goes more than 200 places deep, making it unique among Great Lakes’ fishing contests. August — Northeastern Wisconsin Czech/Kolache Festival at Heritage Farm (5 miles south of Kewaunee). 388-0604 or online

 

August 12-14 (Fri-Sun) — Shanty Days Celebration of the Lake. Huge three-day family festival. Friday kicks off with a book sale at the library. Entertainment on the grounds Friday night along with kid’s entertainment and great food tents. Saturday’s parade at noon is one of state’s largest community parades. The huge Arts & Craft Show and Street Market will run from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday. Enjoy entertainment at the main stage, kid’s activity area, and great food on the grounds. Photo contest, steam engine rides, fishing contest, games, 5K Walk/Run and more surprises await you. Sunday features an ecumenical service by the lake. Great food and live music all day Sunday. Stay around for the grand finale fireworks over the harbor. Kids under 12 are free!
